Bio: Chip Filson has been active in the credit union movement for more than 25 years. He is a nationally recognized author, speaker and consultant.
As president of Callahan & Associates Inc., Chip provides strategic planning, consulting services, and financial publications for the credit union community. Chip co-founded Callahan & Associates in 1985 and, under his leadership, the firm has become one of the nation's leading suppliers of financial performance analysis for credit unions.
Callahan's publishes ten different guides to the industry, including Callahan's Credit Union Directory, the most comprehensive listing of credit unions in the world. In 1999, Callahan's launched CreditUnions.com the premier online resource for credit union data and trends. Callahan's is also the general partner of the Trust for Credit Unions, the first and largest mutual fund family created by and for credit unions, with over $4.0 billion in total assets.
Chip served as Supervisor of the Illinois Credit Union Division before going to NCUA with Ed Callahan and Bucky Sebastian in the early 1980s, at a time of dramatic change. At the NCUA, Chip served as President of the Central Liquidity Facility and Director of the Office of Examinations, where he was responsible for the examination program and the NCUSIF. Chip, Ed and Bucky are best remembered as the architects of the deregulation of federal credit unions, the capitalization of the NCUSIF, and the opening of the CLF to all credit unions.
